He was one of the most translated Arab poets. More precisely, his poems have been translated into more than 20 languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Bosnian, and many others. His poetry is being rediscovered today with the war in Gaza and is becoming more and more relevant.
Mahmud Darwish was born in 1941 in the village of Al-Birwa near the city of Akka (Acre) in northern Palestine, and he died in 2008 in Houston, USA.
